El-Mostafa Benlamlih took charge as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Saudi Arabia in 2003. Prior to that, he held the same post in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and also in Kuwait. In 2000, as the Deputy Director of the UN’s Regional Bureau for Arab States in New York, he initiated the restructuring process for the Regional Bureau of Arab States. Mr.Benlamlih started his career in the UN in 1981 and has served in various capacities in the UN in Malawi, Djibouti and Morocco. A Moroccan national, he is a Doctrate in Economics from the Institut de Rescherche en Economie et Planification Grenoble, IREP. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
